I was moved via George Moving and Storage to Pittsburgh from out of state. It was a nightmare. On the packing end, the workers stole multiple items (e.g., jewelry, money, small antiques) and packed my belongings poorly with the result that several items were damaged in transit. The trucker who oversaw the team wrote on the packing forms that some furniture was stained when it was not--presumably for impunity if stained during the move. For several items damaged in transit, the company claimed not to have moved the items because the workers had put vague terms on the lists of goods. Also, George Moving did not inform me until several days after the move to keep damaged boxes, some of which I had already discarded. My company had paid for my relocation and so it pressured George Moving & Storage to reimburse at least a little damage it caused on the items the movers had specifically identified on the moving lists; however, the compensation was very minimal, in part because George's Moving hires the assessor who adjudicates the cost of repairs. In short: if you care about your belongings, avoid this company.
My father had a high end desk delivered by these guy. They delivered on a holiday weekend and put it together. They were friendly and professional. Highly recommended.
3-man crew handled my recent move. I handled all of the boxes myself so the crew only had to handle large furniture pieces and place them into storage. My crew were excellent workers and very nice to work with. I was hesitant to use George based on other reviews, but ended up choosing them mostly on cost. I was pleasantly surprised by them and would recommend them.
An absolute joke of a company.....We contacted North American Van Lines for our move from Pittsburgh to Texas. They subcontracted to George. The packers consisted of two women (no problem), one of whom was 30 weeks pregnant (again, no problem) and left every 30 minutes to go smoke (starting to be a problem). I'm willing to look the other way, fine. My family and I fly to Texas and 2 weeks from when they put our stuff on a truck (and WAY past the promised delivery window), we are still sitting on plastic lawn furniture in our house (now a BIG problem). When we call both George and North American Van Lines, they direct us to the other and say "I don't know what's going on with your shipment." Now we are upset. Finally, a customer service agent at North American levels with us and says that George doesn't have the capacity to haul your stuff to Texas and North American should NEVER have used them. Interesting coming from the company we hired. Anyway, we are on week 3 of our move, my son cries that he wants to move back to Pittsburgh (because he at least had a bed there) and we are still fighting with them to find a driver to move our stuff. I'm looking into flights to go pick my stuff up myself and drive it to Texas. PLEASE AVOID GEORGE MOVING AND STORAGE and NORTH AMERICAN VAN LINES at ALL COSTS. No family should have to go through what we have.
What a great moving company. They did a terrific job. Friendly, efficient, clean, and careful; they had my things documented, labeled, and loaded in no time. Importantly, not a single scuff mark on the walls, and I had some very large furniture that had to be moved down a tight stairwell. The company was responsive, and very flexible with respect to pick up and delivery times and dates, thereby making my move a lot less stressful. I highly recommend George Moving and Storage!
